"The trials" is an overly melodramatic name for a relatively simple sequence of tests used to decide if someone is ready to proceed from graduate level to the rank of teacher.
Before the trials, Orion (me) will confer with the graduate's teacher to decide what they should test the student on. There will typically be tests on most of the content in the original ten lessons as well as things the student learned at undergraduate level.
A typical trial will include variants on the following tests:
>form a basic construct and program it to do something >bind a construct to something at a distance owned by tester >sense and accurately report thoughts/emotions of tester(s) >scan a specific area to find something >RV and accurately describe tester or something else of tester's choosing >AP and spar with the tester on a lower plane
And of course you will also be tested on what you learned at undergraduate level, such as channeling, psychometry, etc. Of course, if you cannot do one or more of the things listed above, you will not be tested on it, so don't worry.
If you pass all the tests, you will be elevated to teacher level. (For more information about that, see Ranks.)

Yeah but still alot of psions dont learn as fast as you do. I still struggle at scanning and therefore doubt myself at EM.

Arnick: you really should do all those things to graduate, but if you, for example, cannot AP, then I will let you off the hook for that one. However, except in very special circumstances, I will not let you skip more than one of the trials in the above list.

Remember that the trials are quite a long ways away for you. You have all your student-level training and undergraduate-level training before you have to take the trials and graduate, so you may well have learned either or both of those things (AP/RV) by that time.
