Note that this is only about 3/4ths of the original article. I lost the last third when the webiste I had first posted it on got hacked. Sorry .
The purpose of this thread is to share some of the techniques I have used in the past to create more powerful constructs, and powering constructs more efficently.
Premise
To create a construct, you need energy. The best programing in the world isn't going to work well if you don't have something to power it.
More advanced constructs generaly require more energy to create and to maintain, and that energy has to come from somewhere. This post is about some... interesting ways to get that energy.
Energy-gathering Techniques
There are four methods I commonly use to power constructs. All of them revolve around aquiring energy/psi from an external source. The first, drawing upon ambient psi, is relatively easy to program and execute. However, it results in less of a yield than some other techniques. Drawing energy from specific sources, in this case leylines and starlines, requires the creation of a portal or teleported on the astral plane. This is in theory relatively easy, but I don't know how well it will work for other psions. It results in a large quantity of energy over a long period of time. The last method, creating a generator/dynamo is more dificult. It requires some programing skill, but can end up creating more specialized energy in larger quantities than any of the other methods.
Keep in mind that I write these from the perspective of a relatively advanced psion. I don't know how well these will work for less experienced psions.
Ambient Psi Harvesting
Dificulty: Easy to Moderate
Energy Yield: Low
The goal of ambient psi harvesting is to acquire energy/psi from the world around you more easily and quickly than would otherwise be possible. This technique revolves around creating a construct to harvest energy. In my experience, the energy yield is relatively low, but can be used to power many constructs.
To execute this technique, do the following:
That's all. The construct should function normally. Feel free to elaborate on this technique.
Tapping into a Leyline
Dificulty: Moderate
Energy Yield: Moderate to High
This technique pulls energy from an external source, in this case a leyline, to power a construct. A leyline is a source of energy generated by life itself. Tapping into a leyline is in itself not incredibly dificult. However, it does require some skill in scanning to locate the leyline. When making use of this technique, it is important to remember that moderation is good when giving constructs energy. Too much and you might just overload the constuct and possibly yourself.
Nothing else to it.
Tapping into a Starline
Dificulty: Moderate
Energy Yield: High to Very High
This technique pulls energy from an external source, in this case a starline, to power a construct. A starline is generated by life itself, much like the leyline, but it is far more powerful. Tapping into a starline is in itself not incredibly dificult. However, it does require some skill in scanning to locate the starline. When making use of this technique, it is important to remember that moderation is ... recommended ... when giving constructs energy. Too much and you might just overload the constuct and possibly yourself.
That's it.
EDIT: The technique for drawing from starlines was finished by Orion because it got cut off.

This technique revolves around creating a construct to harvest energy. In my experience, the energy yield is relatively low, but can be used to power many constructs.
To execute this technique, do the following:
- Create a construct - Create a psiball, giving it moderate strength. Use whatever technique you are best at. Read about psiballs here, if you need aditional information on this step.
- Program the Contruct to gather energy - Using whatever method of programing you perfer, tell the psiball to seek out sources of ambient psi in the surrounding area. Tell it to gather the psi into itself, taking any energy that is not being used. You can program it to seek out areas of increased energy, such as temples and movie theaters, if you want.
- Send the energy to a target - The next stage of programing is important if you want the construct to actualy do anything. Program the psiball to send the harvested energy to wherever you want it to go. This could be another construct or you.
That's all. The construct should function normally. Feel free to elaborate on this technique.

- Locate a Leyline - Scan around for a leyline. Look for a sort of convergence point of energy. If you need more information on this, check here.
- Program the construct to draw upon the leyline - At this stage, you want to program the construct you want to power to draw energy from the leyline. Tell it to pull up the energy it needs from the leyline.
Nothing else to it.

- Program the construct to draw upon the starline - At this stage, you want to program the construct you want to power to draw energy from the starline. Tell it to pull down the energy it needs from the starline.
That's it.
