Nobody knows exactly what psi is or why it is there. There are more theories than I can count: religious theories, spiritual theories, scientific theories, skeptics’ theories, believers’ theories, and on and on and on. If you just Google “what is psi” or something similar, just see how many relative hits you get. You would be amazed.
I’m not going to go over all of these different theories, but I will explain one particular one that I personally believe. First and foremost, psi is energy, which means it must be generated by something. I believe that life itself generates psi, much like all life in Star Wars generate their mystical Force. If this belief is true, then it is equally true that we humans, as creatures of life and therefore generators of psi, also have the ability to feel and manipulate this psi. And as that is obviously true, according to the many members of this and other psi sites across the Internet, then my first assumption is as well.
So here are the four most important things about psi that you should know, in very basic terms:
> Psi is energy.
> Life generates psi.
> Life controls psi.
> Therefore, human beings can control psi.
The ability to control psi is an amazing one that we have barely scraped the surface of. Using psi, you can sense other people’s thoughts and feelings, view what is going on in remote locations, project your consciousness to different places throughout the universe … and this is just the tip of the iceberg!
Obviously, there are many reasons for and against the control of psi energy. Basically the argument goes like this: On the one hand, psi can be used to benefit people’s lives and can help them to have a fuller, richer existence. On the other hand, people who are self-seeking can, whether on purpose or by accident, really harm the lives of other people. I am not going to offer my own opinion on this point, but will instead leave it to you to make your own decision about psi and what you will do with it.
Anyway, now that you have some basic knowledge, let’s move on to the how. How exactly can someone control psi? Well, just as you have to feel around in a pool of water before you can get in and start splashing about, you must also learn to feel psi before you can begin to manipulate and control it.
So let’s start with a basic relaxation exercise. Early on in your training, you really have to relax in order to open yourself to the psi, so that’s what I want you to do. Whether you curl up in a comfortable chair or lay down between the sheets of your bed, it really doesn’t matter so long as you are comfortable. Then I want you to take a deep breath in and hold it for several seconds, although not so long that it makes you uncomfortable. As you exhale, I want you to completely relax all of your muscles, letting go all the tension in your body. Repeat this breathing process as necessary until you feel completely relaxed, and then close your eyes.
This process is a form of meditation, designed to make you as relaxed and comfortable as possible. I find it to be especially conducive to psionic work, but I should make it known that there are many different types of meditation and ways to meditate. If this way does not seem to work for you, see if you can tweak it to fit your own personality and lifestyle. Maybe you just don’t have enough free time to settle down and meditate; just close your eyes and do the tense-relax process several times whenever you get a chance. You can do this sitting in your office chair or even standing in the elevator. Or if you’d rather not sit still and close your eyes at all, you can still use the tense-relax process wherever and whenever you want to. Find a way that works for you.
When you feel relaxed, we can move on to gaining basic visualization skills. I want you to picture, in your mind’s eye, yourself. Just imagine yourself, as detailed as you can, in whatever pose you are currently in. I want you to get a decent, pretty detailed picture in your mind before moving on. Once you can visualize your body, then start expanding outward. Visualize whatever you are sitting or laying on, with yourself sitting/laying on it. Then move onward and visualize your entire room.
Once you have this picture secured in your head, I want you to add something to it. Visualize psi flowing throughout the room. I usually visualize it as a silvery mist permeating everything, but other people see it as blue-white electricity or whatever comes to mind when they think of “energy”. Just visualize that energy flowing throughout your entire room.
Now visualize that energy swirling around your own body and very slowly, very gently, permeating through your skin. Then visualize it flowing through your body just as it has been flowing through your room.
Whatever you feel at this point is psi. Any sensation such as tingling, coldness, heat, itchiness, or just about anything works.
This process of visualization is the base of all psionic work. If you have trouble visualizing or just feel that you can’t do it, I’m sorry, but this guide simply is not going to work for you. Every lesson following this is based on visualization.
HOMEWORK: Use this technique several times until you become used to how psi feels for you, and have basically memorized the technique.
